For us, compliance means that our employees at TÜV Hessen, like all employees within the Group, adhere to the regulations that are binding for the TÜV SÜD Group. These include international and national laws, the requirements for tests, audits and certification and inspection procedures, as well as internal regulations such as the TÜV SÜD Code of Conduct. Like all of TÜV SÜD's internal regulations, this is binding for all employees, managers and bodies; this is reflected in our compliance claim "Compliance begins with all of us". The TÜV SÜD compliance management system is the organizational basis for compliance with applicable law. The Code of Conduct forms the cornerstone of TÜV SÜD Compliance Program at TÜV Hessen and contains the principles on which our business activities are based. The TÜV SÜD Trust Channel is a protected channel that all TÜV SÜD employees, TÜV Hessen employees and external third parties can use to report complaints of misconduct confidentially and, if the wish, anonymously.
Protecting people, property and the environment from technical risks has always been at the core of TÜV SÜD's business activities. Our revised Code of Conduct now clearly reflects this core of our mission by also describing our duty of care for people and the environment in a central position. In addition to the technical excellence of our service, TÜV SÜD's reputation is based on the independence, integrity and legality of our daily work. These are also the guiding principles of the Code of Conduct, which forms the core of TÜV SÜD's compliance program and is mandatory for everybody at TÜV SÜD. Our Code of Conduct therefore contains the aspects of compliance with the legal requirements and human rights, which are particularly relevant to our business activities. At TÜV SÜD, we are convinced that #compliance concerns all employees, managers and governing bodies in the company, regardless of their role and level of responsibility within the company.

Also integral to our transparent and responsible corporate leadership are the clear principles and rules that apply throughout our organisation. They provide the framework for our activities. Mindful of our responsibility for the future, we consistently assess this framework and implement adjustments as needed. Part of this involves embedding sustainability in all relevant corporate policies. We have now revised a host of policies to incorporate the topic of sustainability from a variety of perspectives.
These new policies provide guidance for our employees’ entrepreneurial activities. Compliance with all applicable laws and international regulations and dealing fairly with our stakeholders—including our business partners, employees, and competitors—are always at the forefront of our corporate philosophy. Our compliance policy counteracts potential breaches and risks from the outset by raising employee awareness, educating the workforce, and establishing appropriate processes. TÜV SÜD’s compliance management system (TÜV SÜD CMS) provides the organisational basis for compliance with applicable laws. The whistleblowing system is a key component of the TÜV SÜD compliance program. Employees and external third parties can submit reports and complaints relating to breaches or suspicious cases from around the world via an internet-based whistleblowing portal, the TÜV SÜD Trust Channel.
This portal is available in 19 languages to all TÜV SÜD employees as well as to customers, suppliers, and other third parties. Here, whistleblowers can set up a protected electronic mailbox for anonymous and secure communication with the TÜV SÜD Global Compliance Team. Since autumn, we’ve been hosting our own dedicated slot on Compliance – an essential topic for building trust, strengthening our culture, and empowering everyone to make the right decisions from day one.
