IFP School lance à partir du 27 janvier 2020 la deuxième édition de son MOOC“Transition énergétique : innover pour un avenir bas carbone”. Gratuit et certifiant, ce MOOC vise à sensibiliser les étudiants, les futurs ingénieurs et les professionnels aux enjeux de la transition énergétique et aux innovations du secteur pour un mix-énergétique décarboné. Dispensée en anglais, la formation en ligne s’étale sur 5 semaines (fin des cours le 2 mars 2020). Le MOOC aborde les thématiques suivantes : La première édition de ce MOOC en mars 2019 a rencontré un beau succès, avec 26 000 inscrits issus de 130 pays et un taux de certification de 20 %. Cette 2e session propose, grâce au soutien de la Fondation Total en association avec la Fondation Tuck, des versions en français et en espagnol, des supports de cours et des mini-jeux d’évaluation.

Free and certified, this MOOC aims to raise awareness amongst students, future engineers and professionals of the challenges faced by the energy transition and the innovations in the low-carbon energy mix sector. The online training lasts 5 weeks (ends on March 2nd, 2020) and courses will be taught in English. The MOOC addresses the following themes: The first edition of this MOOC, launched in March 2019, was a success, with 26,000 participants from 130 countries and a certification rate of 20%. This 2nd edition offers, thanks to the support of the Total Foundation in association with the Tuck Foundation, new versions in French and Spanish, handouts as well as mini-games for evaluation.

The second edition of the MOOC "Energy Transition: Innovation towards a low carbon future", which took place from 27 January to 20 March 2020, attracted 11,643 participants from 129 countries. While the global participation is lower than the one of the first edition, this second session gained a higher international standing with hundreds of participants in a larger number of countries from the different... This significantly increase the MOOC visibility. Moreover, in line with IFP School's strategy, the MOOC has met its goal by mainly reaching young people (18-25 years old) and young professionals (26-35 years old) with respectively 36% and 39% of them...
As for the certification rate (i.e. the number of learners who completed the course and met the certification criteria), it is at 24.5%, which is considered very high by experts. In practice, 39% of participants started at least one of the evaluation mini-games and 62% of them completed all the mini-games with a minimum score of 60%. Such a result demonstrates the real interest of the MOOC program content and the willingness of participants to learn about energy transition. Last but not least, we took the opportunity of this second edition to introduce the negative CO2 emissions concept especially the BECCS topic: thanks to Emma Jagu our first PhD student of the CarMa... Le 27 janvier, l’IFP School a lancé la deuxième édition de son MOOC* « Transition énergétique : innover pour un avenir bas carbone ». Gratuit et certifiant, il est soutenu par Total Foundation. L’IFP School fait partie d’IFP Énergies Nouvelles, un organisme public dédié à la recherche et la formation de niveau master dans les domaines de l’énergie et de la mobilité durable. 500 jeunes du monde entier en sortent diplômés chaque année. In an effort to let a wider public tap into its wealth of knowledge, in early 2019 IFP School launched the MOOC “Energy Transition: Innovation Towards a Low-Carbon Future”.
Available to anyone, both online and via cellphone, the free course sought to inform students and professionals alike about energy transition challenges and the innovations shifting this field towards a decarbonized energy mix. The first edition saw 26,000 people in 130 countries participate. On the back of this success, IFP School has prepared a second iteration of the MOOC. Over the course of five weeks, participants will follow the classes in short-video format, taught by twelve or so experts. Topics include the global energy landscape and its development, how renewable energies fit into the energy mix, carbon capture and storage, energy storage and efficiency, and bio-based products and biofuels. The MOOC is intended for all individuals at university level and above, and requires roughly three hours of weekly study to receive the free certificate.
