Paramount+ is removing Nickelodeon titles from its library, including some big properties like Doug, Blue’s Room, and Big Time Rush. December has seen Doug being taken off the streamer. The animated series premiered in 1991 on Nickelodeon and ran for four seasons. Doug was one of the earliest titles of the “Nicktoons” in the 1990s, which would later include shows like Rugrats, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold! and more.

Other titles purged from Paramount+ include My Life As A Teenage Robot and shows based on DreamWorks Animation films like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar. AwesomenessTV, Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Let’s Just Play: Go Healthy Challenge, Welcome to the Wayne, Wonder Pets, and Zoofari were also removed from Paramount+. More recently, Paramount+ users have reported other titles being taken off the streamer like ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, Blue’s Room, Big Time Rush, Face’s Music Party, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Ni Hao, Kai-Lin, Oobi, Sanjay & Craig, The Upside Down Show, and Tot Cop. Paramount+ has begun removing numerous beloved Nickelodeon shows from its streaming catalog, including iconic series like Doug and Big Time Rush. Nickelodeon, which launched in 1979, has been a cornerstone of children's television entertainment for decades and continues to produce countless animated and live-action series.

According to Deadline, over a dozen Nickelodeon titles are being removed from Paramount+, including classic Nicktoons like Doug, popular live-action series such as Big Time Rush, and newer shows like Breadwinners and Sanjay &... The removal affects shows from various eras, including Doug, which ran for four seasons after its 1991 premiere, and Big Time Rush, which aired from 2009 to 2013. Additional removals include My Life As A Teenage Robot, Blue's Room (the puppetry spin-off series of Blue's Clues), and DreamWorks Animation adaptations like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar. Here is the list of some shows removed: These removals aren't happening in a vacuum. Streaming services across the board are taking a hard look at their libraries, with Max and Disney+ both recently pulling shows from their platforms with a large portion of the removed media targeted towards...

Despite their popularity with families and nostalgic viewers, removing these particular television series and feature-length projects presents an opportunity to cut costs and prioritize the platform's more expensive and popular content. Paramount has recently started letting Netflix stream some of Nickelodeon's most famous sitcoms from the early 2000s, such as iCarly, Victorious, and Zoey 101. These removals could thus be part of a bigger plan to spread Nickelodeon content across different streaming services, similar to how production studios like Warner Bros. have been licensing their shows on Netflix. From animation to live-action, Nickelodeon has crafted a legacy of iconic duos whose opposing personalities have become a hallmark of the channel. Paramount+ just removed many Nickelodeon titles from its library, including BLUE’S ROOM, BIG TIME RUSH and THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR.

Boy Genius Report shared a list of all the shows and movies that were recently removed: AWESOMENESS TV, BREADWINNERS, DOUG, GAME SHAKERS, HOUSE OF ANUBIS, KUNG FU PANDA: LEGENDS OF AWESOMENESS, LET’S JUST PLAY:... Meanwhile, Deadline reported that ALVINNN!!! This isn’t the first round of cuts Paramount has made when it comes to their kids’ content. Streamer removed a number of fan-favorites, including ‘Doug’ and ‘My Life As A Teenage Robot’

I would like to be emailed about offers, events and updates from The Independent. Read our Privacy notice Paramount+ has removed several classic Nickelodeon titles from its library, prompting a wave of fan objection. On Thursday (December 26), the Paramount Global streamer got rid of a number of cult favorites, including Nicktoons’ hit seven-season cartoon Doug and Nickelodeon’s four-season sitcom Big Time Rush. Blue’s Room, a spin-off of Nickelodeon Nick Jr. channel’s popular children’s series Blue’s Clues, cartoon sci-fi My Life As A Teenage Robot, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar were cut from the platform as well.

Weeks after Max removed a bunch of beloved animated TV shows from its streaming service, Paramount+ is following up with a massive purge of its own. As spotted by the blog NickALive!, Paramount+ removed 22 Nickelodeon shows from its library in recent days, including animated classics like Doug and My Life as a Teenage Robot. The removal of classic Nickelodeon shows started on December 19, when Paramount+ kicked the following 12 shows off of its streaming service: In addition to these shows, Paramount+ also dumped The Massively Mixed-Up Middle School Mystery, a live-action special from 2015 featuring Jenna Ortega. If you were a cartoon-watching kid in the '90s, the loss of Doug might sting a bit. Nickelodeon's animated sitcom about a shy boy who wants to fit in at his new school was one of the first three Nicktoons alongside Rugrats and The Ren & Stimpy Show.

My Life as a Teenage Robot was another popular Nicktoon that premiered 12 years after Doug, following the adventures of robot superhero XJ-9 (aka Jenny) as she tries to live life as a normal... Paramount has decided not to wait until spring to get a little spring cleaning done. Specifically, the company has undertaken a new round of content removals from its streamer Paramount+, and like previous culls this batch of pulled titles is heavily affecting kids and families. It’s all in the name of lowering backend streaming costs, but that’s of little comfort to customers who might be seeing their favorite titles removed. The new round of content pulled from Paramount+ will see one show that ’90s kids will especially lament: the Nickelodeon cartoon “Doug.” Running for four seasons, “Doug” was one of the earliest titles in... Also on the list of shows and movies removed from Paramount+ include “AwesomenessTV,” “Blue’s Room,” “Breadwinners,” “Fanboy & Chum Chum,” “Game Shakers,” “House of Anubis,” “Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness,” “Let’s Just Play: Go...

This is the second round of content cuts from the streamer that affects kids and families the most. In late March, Paramount+ did away with shows like the CGI-animated “Rugrats,” the new version of “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and other titles. There was no official announcement from Paramount+ as to why it was removing the shows and movies from its library. Typically, streamers make such moves because they want to cut down on the cost of maintaining their library servers, and the titles pulled don’t bring in enough viewership to maintain their place.
