On New Years Day, Paramount+ removed 11 kids TV shows, including a few Nickelodeon classics. These latest removals join As Told By Ginger, which was removed on December 17th. Movies and specials removed today (or recently): While the movie removals are due to licensing rights, as most of the Nickelodeon Movies have rotated on and off multiple times before, it’s still worth noting. Also, this does mark the end of Ryan’s Mystery Playdate on the service, as the main TV show has been gone for some time now. Welcome to NickALive!, bringing you the latest Nickelodeon news for Nickelodeon channels around the world.

HBO Max has released scores of animated series from its library, with Netflix looking to do the same next year with the likes of Captain Underpants and She-Ra And The Princesses of Power. In a surprising move, Paramount+ has apparently done the same with one of its biggest Nickelodeon animated shows, as subscribers have noticed a big cartoon is no longer available to stream. While an official comment has yet to be released by Paramount, we have to imagine that more than a few fans will be sad to see a big Nicktoon leave the streaming service. Fans recently took notice that the Nickelodeon animated series, As Told By Ginger, had disappeared from Paramount+, leaving many distressed regarding the availability of the beloved Nicktoon. Unfortunately, the loss of this animated classic from Paramount’s platform means that it cannot be legally viewed anywhere at the moment, as it currently isn’t available on any digital storefront. While there have been instances in the past of removed series playing leapfrog from one streaming service to another, nothing has been confirmed when it comes to the episodes featuring the Nickelodeon redhead.

Rather than focusing on adventures taking place under the sea like SpongeBob SquarePants or attempting to take over the world like Invader Zim, Ginger’s animated series took a page from shows like Doug, creating... First premiering in the year 2000, the series would garner three seasons and became a cult classic for many Nickelodeon fans over the years. While a sequel series and/or spin-off was never announced, it still remains one of the more popular NickToons thanks to its storytelling, and it seems that the only way to legally revisit the show... Nickelodeon still has an official website dedicated to the series that describes As Told By Ginger as such, “Middle schooler Ginger Foutley thinks she’s a geek – but doesn’t want to be. She and her best pals, Dodie, Macie and Darren, aspire to shake the “geek” label and get in with the cool crowd. Will they succeed?

As Told By Ginger offers the rare opportunity to get a definitive answer: unlike most animated shows, the characters aren’t stuck at one age – they actually get older as the show progresses —... As of the writing of this article, the streaming service still has Nickelodeon classics like SpongeBob SquarePants, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, The Wild Thornberrys, and Rocket Power, to name a few. Fingers crossed that other animated fare from the cable network remains on Paramount+, but these days, it feels like nothing is safe when it comes to streaming. Nickelodeon’s 1990s and early 2000s golden age produced an astonishing lineup of animated series that defined a generation, yet not all of them can be revisited now. Shows like Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, CatDog, The Wild Thornberrys, Rocket Power, Invader Zim, and As Told by Ginger were formative for an entire generation. Thanks to their unique concepts and art styles, they remain deeply embedded in pop culture memory decades later.

Out of these classics, SpongeBob SquarePants is the only one that never left the spotlight. Naturally, fans who grew up during Nickelodeon’s golden era are naturally inclined to revisit the other shows that defined their childhoods. Unfortunately, doing so is far more difficult than one would expect. The 2000 coming-of-age cartoon As Told by Ginger was removed from Paramount+ in January 2026, leaving it unavailable on any streaming platform. With no digital storefront offering it for purchase and no official physical reissues in circulation, the series has effectively vanished from legal viewing. Other animated shows like the Paramount original Big Nate and the equally nostalgic Doug have also been removed from Paramount.

Unfortunately, As Told by Ginger's unavailability is part of a growing industry pattern. Streaming platforms removing shows they fully own is already a well-known practice. For example, Warner Bros. Discovery pulled the majority of classic Looney Tunes shorts from Max in 2025. Disney set a troubling precedent in 2023, when the studio removed the Willow sequel series from Disney+ just months after launch. In 2026, As Told by Ginger joins a list of culturally significant series lost to cost-cutting and content reshuffling.

Sadly, nothing in the digital age is truly permanent. Streaming has trained audiences to think of media as endlessly available, yet licensing shifts, tax write-offs, mergers, and internal strategy changes can erase entire shows overnight, even ones fully owned by the platform hosting... This problem doesn’t stop at television and film. Video games, songs, books, and videos can be edited, limited, or erased at any moment too. Streaming offers convenience, but it comes with a cost. Paramount+ is getting rid of more Nickelodeon shows.

The streamer has removed three classic series from the Paramount Skydance-owned children’s network. Paramount+ is the home to dozens of Nickelodeon shows, ranging from SpongeBob SquarePants to Rugrats to All That to Drake & Josh to iCarly to Henry Danger, and many, many more. There are still a lot that aren’t available on the platform, and unfortunately, even those on the platform don’t seem to have a permanent place. According to NickALive!, three classic Nickelodeon shows are no longer streaming, and it’s unknown if and when they will ever return. Created by Emily Kapnek, As Told by Ginger ran for three seasons from 2000 to 2006. The series has been praised for having ongoing story arcs and characters who developed, aged, and changed their clothes throughout the show, which was rare for an animated series at the time.

Set in the fictional town of Sheltered Shrubs, As Told by Ginger revolves around the titular Ginger Foutley, a junior high school (and later high school) girl, and her friends as they try to... The voice cast includes Melissa Disney, Kenny Blank, Jeannie Elias, Liz Georges, Jackie Harris, Aspen Miller, Tress MacNeille, Cree Summer, Laraine Newman, Kath Soucie, Sandy Fox, Emily Kapnek, and Adam Wylie. Paramount+ is removing Nickelodeon titles from its library, including some big properties like Doug, Blue’s Room, and Big Time Rush. December has seen Doug being taken off the streamer. The animated series premiered in 1991 on Nickelodeon and ran for four seasons. Doug was one of the earliest titles of the “Nicktoons” in the 1990s, which would later include shows like Rugrats, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh!!

Real Monsters, Hey Arnold! and more. Other titles purged from Paramount+ include My Life As A Teenage Robot and shows based on DreamWorks Animation films like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar. AwesomenessTV, Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Let’s Just Play: Go Healthy Challenge, Welcome to the Wayne, Wonder Pets, and Zoofari were also removed from Paramount+. More recently, Paramount+ users have reported other titles being taken off the streamer like ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, Blue’s Room, Big Time Rush, Face’s Music Party, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Ni Hao, Kai-Lin, Oobi, Sanjay & Craig, The Upside Down Show, and Tot Cop.

Paramount+ has removed several classic Nickelodeon titles from its library, prompting a wave of fan objection. On Thursday (December 26), the Paramount Global streamer got rid of a number of cult favorites, including Nicktoons’ hit seven-season cartoon Doug and Nickelodeon’s four-season sitcom Big Time Rush. Blue’s Room, a spin-off of Nickelodeon Nick Jr. channel’s popular children’s series Blue’s Clues, cartoon sci-fi My Life As A Teenage Robot, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar were cut from the platform as well. As were AwesomenessTV, Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Let’s Just Play: Go Healthy Challenge, Welcome to the Wayne, Wonder Pets and Zoofari. ALVINNN!!!and the Chipmunks, Face’s Music Party, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Ni Hao, Kai-Lin, Oobi, Sanjay & Craig, The Upside Down Show, and Tot Cop, were also among the vanishing titles.
