In this tutorial you will learn how to install an Arduino library from GitHub. And first of all, why would you want to do that? If you open the Arduino library manager (on the Arduino IDE: Tools > Manage Libraries), you can already find a lot of libraries to install and use, without any extra step. But, maybe you will have one of those situations: If you are in any of those cases, then the solution is to manually install the Arduino library from GitHub. This guide will show how to install the Arduino-ESP32 support.
We recommend you install the support using your favorite IDE, but other options are available depending on your operating system. To install Arduino-ESP32 support, you can use one of the following options. Users in China might have troubles with connection and download speeds using GitHub. Please use our Jihulab mirror as the repository source: https://jihulab.com/esp-mirror/espressif/arduino-esp32.git This is the way to install Arduino-ESP32 directly from the Arduino IDE.
This repository contains the source code of the Arduino IDE 2.x. If you're looking for the old IDE, go to the repository of the 1.x version. The Arduino IDE 2.x is a major rewrite, sharing no code with the IDE 1.x. It is based on the Theia IDE framework and built with Electron. The backend operations such as compilation and uploading are offloaded to an arduino-cli instance running in daemon mode. This new IDE was developed with the goal of preserving the same interface and user experience of the previous major version in order to provide a frictionless upgrade.
You can download the latest release version and nightly builds from the software download page on the Arduino website. If you need assistance, see the Help Center and browse the forum. If you want to report an issue, you can submit it to the issue tracker of this repository.
