Nickelodeon Shows On Paramount Plus
Weeks after Max removed a bunch of beloved animated TV shows from its streaming service, Paramount+ is following up with a massive purge of its own. As spotted by the blog NickALive!, Paramount+ removed 22 Nickelodeon shows from its library in recent days, including animated classics like Doug and My Life as a Teenage Robot. The removal of classic Nickelodeon shows started on December 19, when Paramount+ kicked the following 12 shows off of its streaming service: In addition to these shows, Paramount+ also dumped The Massively Mixed-Up Middle School Mystery, a live-action special from 2015 featuring Jenna Ortega. If you were a cartoon-watching kid in the '90s, the loss of Doug might sting a bit. Nickelodeon's animated sitcom about a shy boy who wants to fit in at his new school was one of the first three Nicktoons alongside Rugrats and The Ren & Stimpy Show.
My Life as a Teenage Robot was another popular Nicktoon that premiered 12 years after Doug, following the adventures of robot superhero XJ-9 (aka Jenny) as she tries to live life as a normal... Paramount+ has begun removing numerous beloved Nickelodeon shows from its streaming catalog, including iconic series like Doug and Big Time Rush. Nickelodeon, which launched in 1979, has been a cornerstone of children's television entertainment for decades and continues to produce countless animated and live-action series. According to Deadline, over a dozen Nickelodeon titles are being removed from Paramount+, including classic Nicktoons like Doug, popular live-action series such as Big Time Rush, and newer shows like Breadwinners and Sanjay &... The removal affects shows from various eras, including Doug, which ran for four seasons after its 1991 premiere, and Big Time Rush, which aired from 2009 to 2013. Additional removals include My Life As A Teenage Robot, Blue's Room (the puppetry spin-off series of Blue's Clues), and DreamWorks Animation adaptations like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar.
Here is the list of some shows removed: These removals aren't happening in a vacuum. Streaming services across the board are taking a hard look at their libraries, with Max and Disney+ both recently pulling shows from their platforms with a large portion of the removed media targeted towards... Despite their popularity with families and nostalgic viewers, removing these particular television series and feature-length projects presents an opportunity to cut costs and prioritize the platform's more expensive and popular content. Paramount has recently started letting Netflix stream some of Nickelodeon's most famous sitcoms from the early 2000s, such as iCarly, Victorious, and Zoey 101. These removals could thus be part of a bigger plan to spread Nickelodeon content across different streaming services, similar to how production studios like Warner Bros.
have been licensing their shows on Netflix. From animation to live-action, Nickelodeon has crafted a legacy of iconic duos whose opposing personalities have become a hallmark of the channel. Ah, Nickelodeon. The very mention of it transports me back to a time when I had absolutely zero responsibilities, only the weight of deciding which show to binge-watch next. With *Paramount Plus* now holding the Nickelodeon treasure chest, I can relive those glorious childhood memories right from my couch! So, what shows can you expect to see?
Buckle up, because I’m about to take you on a nostalgic roller coaster that’s all twists and turns reminiscent of a wild episode of *Rugrats*. First off, I had to dive into the deep end of the Nickelodeon library on Paramount Plus. Spoiler alert! It's chock-full of delightful gems. There's something incredibly soothing about watching classic shows that I grew up with. It's like wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket, one that smells faintly like your childhood and a hint of spilled apple juice.
Here are a few shows that I absolutely had to check out immediately: Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like a binge-watch session of Nickelodeon classics! I found myself getting lost in episodes, often wondering why I ever stopped watching. Just the other night, I cozied up with a bowl of popcorn, preparing for a *The Adventures of Pete & Pete* marathon. If you haven't seen it, you’re seriously missing out. It’s like the original *Stranger Things* but with more sun and a lot less monster-mystery.
While my heart lies in the classics, *Paramount Plus* is also home to some current Nickelodeon favorites that kids today are devouring. I would be remiss to leave these out, because they also bring that same chaotic energy that only Nickelodeon can deliver. You’ve got to check out: Over the past several months, Paramount Plus has added over 100 Nickelodeon shows, new and old, to its ever-expanding, rich library of content. The service also features a number of original Nickelodeon movies, such as Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie.
Last year, I penned a piece pleading Nickelodeon to add some of its classic shows to a streaming service. Apparently, Nick listened, and responded rather quickly. After 15 years separate from each other, CBS and Viacom merged together for a second time in December of 2019. As a result of the two media juggernauts teaming up, CBS began overhauling its streaming service in the ensuing months, adding BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Spike TV, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Smithsonian and Paramount properties... In March of 2021, CBS-Viacom rebranded CBS All Access as "Paramount Plus", adding a plethora of new content to the streaming service. Now, Nickelodeon has its own version of Disney+.

Those who have cut cable and relied on streaming to watch Nickelodeon shows will have to find another source, as Paramount+ has removed several major titles from the platform. ComicBook reports that some of the shows can be found on other services, but others will be harder to find. Among the more popular Nickelodeon series removed from Paramount+ are Doug and My Life as a Teenage Robot. Doug was one of the very first “Nicktoons” ever, running from 1991 to 1994.
Additionally, by the end of 2024, shows based on movie franchises like Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar will be taken down from Paramount+. For now, the Kung Fu Panda movie franchise can be streamed on various platforms and the original Madagascar movie can be found on Hulu. Audiences revere '90s television, especially certain '90s cartoons. Here is a list of the series that have been removed from Paramount+ thus far: Some of the shows will remain available in other ways. For instance, My Life as a Teenage Robot can be purchased on VOD and also on DVD.
Doug is also available to purchase on VOD. Disney’s version of Doug, which aired from 1996 to 1999, is streaming on Disney+. This is a list of television programs broadcast by Nickelodeon in the United States. The channel was first tested on December 1, 1977, as an experimental local channel in Columbus, Ohio. On April 1, 1979, the channel expanded into a national network named Nickelodeon. The first program broadcast on Nickelodeon was Pinwheel, a preschool series created by Dr.
Vivian Horner, who also conceived the idea for the channel itself.[1] At its launch, Nickelodeon was commercial-free and mainly featured educational shows. By 1984, the channel began accepting traditional commercials and introduced more entertainment-focused programming.[2] In January 1988, the network launched a weekday morning block for preschoolers called Nick Jr., which carried Pinwheel and other educational... Around the same time, Nickelodeon began investing in original animated shows, which premiered in 1991 under the "Nicktoons" branding. Since then, the channel has consistently aired a mix of original live-action and animated titles.
