How To Watch Over 100 Old Nickelodeon Shows On Paramount Plus
Over the past several months, Paramount Plus has added over 100 Nickelodeon shows, new and old, to its ever-expanding, rich library of content. The service also features a number of original Nickelodeon movies, such as Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie. Last year, I penned a piece pleading Nickelodeon to add some of its classic shows to a streaming service. Apparently, Nick listened, and responded rather quickly. After 15 years separate from each other, CBS and Viacom merged together for a second time in December of 2019.
As a result of the two media juggernauts teaming up, CBS began overhauling its streaming service in the ensuing months, adding BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Spike TV, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Smithsonian and Paramount properties... In March of 2021, CBS-Viacom rebranded CBS All Access as "Paramount Plus", adding a plethora of new content to the streaming service. Now, Nickelodeon has its own version of Disney+. As Americans hunker down in their houses amid the outbreak of COVID-19, there's never been a better time for them to catch up on their favorite childhood shows. You can get a free one-week trial when you register through my link, jackvita.com/paramount. Paramount+ doesn’t have The Mandalorian or WandaVision or Game of Thrones.
But if you’re a kid who grew up in the ’80s or early ’90s, it does have your childhood. The new streaming service (or rather the new name for an old streaming service, CBS All Access), has been beefing up its offerings from across the Viacom corporate library. This week, they added a big range of sitcoms, cartoons, and game shows from the glory days of Nickelodeon. The lineup is far from complete (Where’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete?) and even the shows they added don’t have their full runs right now. Double Dare, for example, only includes offers the show’s first season, which means no Family Double Dare or Super Sloppy Double Dare. Still, there are many hours of nostalgia to be found, including some shows that have been very hard to find and watch in recent years, like the classic kids sketch show You Can’t Do...
The roster of vintage Nickelodeon shows on Paramount+ now includes: Again, there are a lot more shows that are missing here. (Get the Picture! Finders Keepers! Wild & Crazy Kids! What Would You Do!
I watched a lot of Nickelodeon as a kid, sorry.) But for a child of this era, this is like discovering a Fountain of Youth spewing a geyser of green slime. Gallery — The Best Children’s Shows in TV History: Ah, Nickelodeon. The very mention of it transports me back to a time when I had absolutely zero responsibilities, only the weight of deciding which show to binge-watch next. With *Paramount Plus* now holding the Nickelodeon treasure chest, I can relive those glorious childhood memories right from my couch! So, what shows can you expect to see?
Buckle up, because I’m about to take you on a nostalgic roller coaster that’s all twists and turns reminiscent of a wild episode of *Rugrats*. First off, I had to dive into the deep end of the Nickelodeon library on Paramount Plus. Spoiler alert! It's chock-full of delightful gems. There's something incredibly soothing about watching classic shows that I grew up with. It's like wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket, one that smells faintly like your childhood and a hint of spilled apple juice.
Here are a few shows that I absolutely had to check out immediately: Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like a binge-watch session of Nickelodeon classics! I found myself getting lost in episodes, often wondering why I ever stopped watching. Just the other night, I cozied up with a bowl of popcorn, preparing for a *The Adventures of Pete & Pete* marathon. If you haven't seen it, you’re seriously missing out. It’s like the original *Stranger Things* but with more sun and a lot less monster-mystery.
While my heart lies in the classics, *Paramount Plus* is also home to some current Nickelodeon favorites that kids today are devouring. I would be remiss to leave these out, because they also bring that same chaotic energy that only Nickelodeon can deliver. You’ve got to check out: It just got harder to watch some of Nickelodeon’s older shows, and it’s going to be even harder soon as even more will be leaving streaming services by 2025. Paramount+ seems to be making some major changes to its library as fans of Nickelodeon had already noticed earlier this month that some of their biggest classic had been removed from the streaming service. This included some of their earliest original animated projects like Doug and My Life As a Teenage Robot, and even more recent hits like Breadwinners and Game Shakers.
But it turns out, there were more removals on the way. As spotted by @ToonHive on X, even more Nickelodeon shows have been removed from Paramount+ as of December 23rd. The latest batch of shows includes some animated favorites such as Sanjay and Craig, more younger audience content such as Ni Hao Kai-lan, and even live-action shows like Big Time Rush. It’s such a notable removal after the last batch that something really seems to be changing within Nickelodeon’s place within Paramount overall. The latest batch of Nickelodeon removals from Paramount+ include the likes of: While this list might not immediately alert Nickelodeon fans as to Paramount+’s changing streaming library, it follows the last long list of removals from just a few days ago that included the following:
It’s a bit alarming to lose so many shows, and coupled with the fact that even more Nickelodeon shows will be leaving Hulu soon. Hey Arnold!, Rugrats, The Thundermans, and Drake & Josh are set to leave Hulu on January 1st, 2025. So while these shows might not immediately jump out as “big” losses in the grand scheme of their time with Nickelodeon itself, it really is indicative of a much larger, more worrying trend.
